Bike Sharing Future Looks Bright in Raleigh!

Bike Sharing Future Looks Bright in Raleigh!

A Raleigh bike sharing proposal may receive more funding in the coming months. City officials have been assessing plans for stations located around downtown as part of a feasibility study that was launched in 2013 and completed in 2014. Now the city must choose if they will pay to further develop the project as part of their budget.

According to the study, it would cost $1.5 million to install 30 bike sharing stations with 300 bikes across Raleigh. Monthly costs could range from about 25-61k for a bike sharing program of this size. So far, leaders have backed the idea saying that we have enough population to support the program and it will promote healthy living as well as economic development.
