Monday, August 26th
What: WakeUP Wake County’s Town Hall for Raleigh City Council District E, in Raleigh
When: 6-8:00pm
Where: Temple Beth Or, 5315 Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh, NC 27612
What’s Happening:
This is the second Town Hall event in WakeUP’s series of district-focused candidate forums for Raleigh City Council, featuring the candidates running for District E, incumbent Stef Mendell and challenger David Knight. Candidates running at-large are also invited to attend.

What: People Powered Places, in Raleigh
When: 7-8:30pm
Where: REI, 4291 The Circle at North Hills, Raleigh, NC
What’s Happening:
NCDOT is currently considering a project to modify the I-440 & Glenwood interchange & Glenwood Ave between I-440 and Creedmoor Rd. The current design lacks facilities for people. This event will provide an opportunity to help our community rethink Raleigh to put – people – first.
The event will include an introduction from Oaks and Spokes to the intersection and issue. Staff from NCDOT will also be invited to attend. After introductory remarks, individuals will participate in a guided workshop where attendees will be encouraged to “complete the street” and help Oaks and Spokes form recommendations to carry forward into the design process.
The event will be held in the Community Room at REI on the 2nd floor.
Tuesday, August 27th
What: Planning Board Joint Meeting with Town Council & Community Advisory Committee, in Holly Springs
When: 6:30-8:30pm
Where: Holly Springs Cultural Center, 300 West Ballentine St., Holly Springs, NC
What’s Happening:
At Tuesday’s Planning Board meeting, a round-table discussion will be held for the draft Land Use & Character Plan produced through the re:Vision Holly Springs project, part of the process of updating the Town of Holly Springs’ Comprehensive Plan. The Holly Springs Town Council and Mayor, and the Community Advisory Committee, are invited to participate in this conversation with the Planning Board.
Thursday, August 29th
What: WakeUP Wake County’s Town Hall for Raleigh City Council Districts A & B, in Raleigh
When: 6-9:00pm
Where: Marsh Creek Park, 3050 New New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27604
What’s Happening:
This is the third Town Hall event in WakeUP’s series of district-focused candidate forums for Raleigh City Council, featuring the candidates running for Districts A and B. The candidates running for District A are: Joshua Bradley, Patrick Buffkin, and Sam Hershey. In June, Dickie Thompson, the incumbent Council member for District A, announced that he would not seek re-election. Candidates running for District B are: incumbent David Cox and challenger Brian Fitzsimmons. Candidates running at-large are also invited to attend.

What: Town Council Meeting (Quarterly), in Cary
When: 2:30pm
Where: The Matthews House, 317 W Chatham St, Cary, NC 27511
What’s Happening:
The agenda for this meeting includes council priorities and a work session on the Cary Towne Center Rezoning.
As reported by the News & Observer back in May, the new owners of the mall, Turnbridge Equities, submitted a rezoning request with the Town of Cary to redevelop much of the property to add office space, residential units and a hotel. A public hearing for the project was held recently on August 15th.
