The Department of Environmental Quality has released a report concluding that the SolarBee mixers in Jordan Lake are not removing pollution from our drinking water.
WakeUP has maintained that in order to clean up Jordan Lake, municipalities need to follow the state-approved clean up plan. However, the General Assembly voted to delay that plan and instead test the use of SolarBees in Jordan (and voted to renew the project again during last legislative session). Now DEQ has reported that the test project is unsuccessful and likely won’t remove pollution from the lake.
As Wake County and the Triangle continue to grow, development will continue. This means more pollution in our drinking water. We need to move forward in implementing the clean up plan for Jordan Lake and stop wasting time and money with SolarBees. The only way to prevent more pollution from entering our water is to stop it at the source!
