If you are a Raleigh resident, you will have the opportunity to vote for or against a $75 million transportation bond on October 8, 2013. If the bond is approved, the tax rate will increase by 1.12 cents, which will also cover maintenance for the proposed projects once completed. The bond will fund 18 projects located all around Raleigh that the City identified as needed. Many are road-widening projects, and all projects are intended to not only improve traffic flow, but make the roads pedestrian, bicycle, and transit friendly by adding sidewalks, bike lanes and bus access. Funding the next phase of streetscape and roundabouts on Hillsborough St is also included.
