The Wake County Board of Commissioners held their annual retreat on Feb. 28th. Although expectations were high for them to discuss next steps on transit, the conversation fell short. While addressing their goals for the year, Commissioners merely agreed to have a work session sometime in May or June to discuss the process for developing a transit plan for the County. However, Commissioners did announce the name of the newly hired County Manager during the retreat. Jim Hartmann, their choice for the position, is described as having a background in transit. He has worked in Alexandria, VA and in Seminole County, FL, both of which have public transit systems. Read more here.
