Wake Forest 2014 Bond Referendum

Wake Forest 2014 Bond Referendum

This fall, Wake Forest is preparing its’ voters for a $25 million bond referendum. This includes heading a ramped up public education campaign, helping to inform voters about the important questions impacting the November 2014 ballot. The purpose of this referendum is to help pay for a number of necessary city renovations including $6.3 million for streets and sidewalks, $14.2 million for parks and recreation, and $4.6 million for greenways. If the referendum were to pass, and all projects were started, they would be funded through a 2 cent property tax increase for every $100 of assessed value. However, if the referendum doesn’t pass, many of these projects will end up either being postponed or eliminated.

WakeUP supports policies that protect greenways and open spaces, because they help keep our communities healthy and sustainable. Renovations such as these further promote good, sustainable growth policies. In order to help make sure these issues are adequately addressed, get out and vote on November 4!
