The City of Raleigh is working on a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to guide future growth and development in the city. A draft UDO was made available for public comment at the beginning of May. Recognizing the importance of the UDO for Raleigh’s future, WakeUP Wake County convened a diverse group of individuals – representing environmental, transit, and affordable housing advocates and developers – to review the document and prepare comments.
After several weeks of discussion and team work, WakeUP’s UDO Team prepared a series of comments to strengthen the development code and ensure we increase citizens’ quality of life as we grow. You can read WakeUP’s comments here.
Sometime in the coming months – after the public comments have been reviewed – the City of Raleigh’s Planning Department will hold a public hearing on the UDO, offering an additional opportunity for people to comment on the code. Stay tuned for information about that meeting.
