Executive Director of WakeUP Wake County received the Women in Transportation (WTS) Triangle Chapter 2011 Woman of the Year Award:
“Ms. Rindge is Executive Director of WakeUP Wake County, a growing grassroots non-profit organization. WakeUP focuses on transit, water quality, land use and schools. In this work she has raised funds, secured grants, organized publc forums and established communication systems to serve the community and WakeUP members. She is known for creating partnerships with allied organizations, nurturing volunteer leadership, and excellent mentoring of interns and part-time staff.
For her advocacy and initiative on behalf of advancing public transportation, for her organizing efforts to engage the community on all the challenges that attend growth, our WTS – NC Triangle Chapter is proud to name Karen Rindge Woman of the Year.”
WakeUP Advisor and community leader Anne Franklin received WTS’s 2011 Member of the Year Award:
“Anne S. Franklin is one of the founding members of WTS – NC Triangle Chapter, and has been selected as Member of the Year for her sustaining work and longstanding commitment to the Chapter. She is instrumental in helping to connect WTS with the work of the Capital Area Friends of Transit as a member of its Steering Committee. This year she chaired the first Advisory Board, a panel of distinguished state transportation leaders and has been an active member of WTS teams that worked to produce transit conferences in recent years.”
