Hello, I’m Ebony Duell! I have the esteemed honor to join WakeUP Wake County’s team as the Events & Relationship Coordinator.
I am a Raleigh, N.C. native and now I reside in Garner. In 2020 I graduated from Bennett College, where I majored in Journalism and Media Studies. Through various internships, I found a passion for telling the stories of my community and those around me from a journalistic standpoint. I love to highlight the local others.
During my time at Bennett College, I served as SGA president and gained an interest in civic engagement. I grew to love meeting local government officials and speaking with them about their platform. In 2019 I interviewed Senator Bernie Sanders during his visit to Bennett College.
After graduating, I continued my career in journalism as a freelance writer and videographer. I started my own videography business in June of 2020. In May of 2021, I joined The Daily Dispatch of Henderson newspaper as an Education reporter.
As the Events & Relationship coordinator, I am excited to meet with donors and the WakeUp family. I hope to help WakeUp Wake County continue promoting good growth planning and sustainable, healthy communities through education, advocacy, and civic engagement, advancing a higher quality of life for all.
