Greetings, I am Desmon Johnson. I attended the fabulous Shaw University where I major in political science. I have also served in SGA(student government association) as President for the freshman class. Having the opportunity to serve in SGA allowed me to experience leadership in a new way. Working with and serving my peers lit a fire in me and I want to continue this great work.
I am very excited to be a part of WakeUP Wake County and get the political experience that I have searched for. This internship will not only give me hands-on experience with politics but also help me excel in school with my learning. In life the best way to grow and succeed is to learn and experience.
My goal for this internship is to be able to take as many notes as possible. Being able to translate what I have learned and connect it to the real world. Most importantly using this to drive my passion for politics and increase it with the knowledge I will gain from WakeUP. I am really looking forward to meeting with elected officials, staff from local governments, community leaders, and you – the members.
