2020 has been a year of discovering new experiences and talents and realizing things that we had forgotten were so important to us. From struggling with quarantine, baking bread, and virtual school to greenways, kindness, and our neighbors.
We’ve had to depend on each other, at a distance, to make it through this year. Through this, many of us have found a renewed sense of connection to our communities. As the voice for responsible growth, we work everyday to create connections between people and places, fostering safe, vibrant, and sustainable communities for all.
Help us do even more in 2021
In just the past 12 months, we have:
- Focused resources to create and advocate passing of the City of Raleigh’s historic Affordable Housing Bond;
- Spoke up for CARES Act funding to provide emergency housing and rental assistance to struggling families;
- Appealed to the federal government for personal protective equipment (PPE) for transit workers;
- Wrote to state legislators to prevent major cuts to transportation funding due to House Bill 77;
- Successfully encouraged transit-oriented development policies to increase economic opportunities, protect our environment, and create healthy neighborhoods;
- Convened meetings between state lawmakers, local policymakers, and town planners to discuss transportation funding challenges amid the COVID-19 pandemic;
- Hosted discussions about how innovative stormwater management helps strengthen underserved neighborhoods;
- Organized panel discussions about rebuilding our local economy through improved transportation infrastructure.
