Transportation for America’s Transit Innovation Academy is off and running! The Academy aims to develop civic leaders as community educators and advocates for transit. Teams of civic leaders were chosen from Raleigh-Wake, Nashville, and Indianapolis, which are cities with high potential to upgrade their public transit systems in the coming years. All of these teams met for the first time in Raleigh last week for their first round of workshops. Workshops included an introduction to demographics and trends in Wake County, a walking tour of downtown Raleigh and of course, the first of many educational sessions on transportation systems.
The Raleigh-Wake team is made up of Asa Fleming, Courtney Crowder, Mike Munn, Sheila Ogle, Wake County Commissioner Matt Calabria and Raleigh City Councilor Bonner Gaylord, and is overseen by WakeUP Wake County. We are proud to be involved in such an important process and we are excited to see how this group of leaders will activate their communities for transportation in the future!
