WakeUp’s 2017 Annual Meeting

On January 27, 2017 WakeUP held its Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony  featuring the presentation of annual awards to folks who have impacted this community in 2016 and an exciting keynote presentation about affordable housing by Wake County Commissioner Jessica Holmes.

Our awardees included Anne S. Franklin (Thomas Crowder Visionary Award), Tom and Ticie Rhodes (Volunteer of the Year), the Raleigh-Wake Citizens Association & Wake Voter Education Coalition (Stan Norwalk Outstanding Community Engagement Award), and members of the Board of Commissioners, James West, Matt Calabria, and Sig Hutchinson (2016 Leadership Awards).

Jessica Holmes, Wake County Commissioner and Chair of the Affordable Housing Steering Committee gave an enlightening keynote speech focusing on “Creating a Vision for Affordable Housing in Wake County”, where she shared with us the goals and possible plans of the new steering committee.

Our 2017 Annual Meeting may have been our best one yet. We would like to thank everyone who attended and engaged with relevant questions and statements. See you at next year’s Annual Meeting!
