On Wednesday, March 7, at WakeMed Hospital’s Andrew’s Conference Center, WakeUP hosted a community forum entitled Our Future: Growing Smart with Housing and Transit. With 25 elected officials in attendance and over 200 guests, we heard a hopeful keynote delivered by Smart Growth America’s, Chris Zimmerman. The event also featured a panel of local experts who spoke on the challenges of housing and public transit as the county continues to grow by 67 people a day. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in a fun audience poll of smart growth options!
