Each year WakeUP recognizes accomplishments of people and institutions also working to
advance healthy, sustainable communities and plan well for growth. This year was no different! At our community forum and reception, “Our Future: Growing Smart with Housing and Transit”, we presented awards to the following individuals for doing outstanding work in Wake County.
Sara Merz, Advocates for Health in Action – Stan Norwalk Community Engagement Award
For bringing public awareness to the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and for a leading community-wide effort to build resilience and improve public health.
Jessica Holmes, Chair, Wake County Commission – Thomas Crowder Visionary Award –
For inspiring and leading the development of the Wake County Affordable Housing Plan.
Blair Hinkle and Kevin Boyer, City of Raleigh Stormwater Management Division – WakeUP Leadership Award –
For leading the development and implementation of Raleigh’s new Green Stormwater Initiative.
Jennie Wallace, Stuart Wallace (post-humously) – WakeUP Leadership Award –
For his support of WakeUP and his long-term vision for sustainable, healthy communities in Wake County.
