Community engagement
We encourage citizens to get involved with their communities and to be fully informed regarding the various aspects of their local governments. Regardless of where you live in Wake County, we hope you'll find helpful information about the issues that matter most to you on our website.
Voting
As a nonpartisan organization, WakeUP Wake County works to inform voters about current issues related to sustainable development and the long-term impact of today’s policy decisions on our communities.
In addition to educating residents and community leaders, WakeUP is a strong advocate for mobilizing residents to vote in local elections. The leaders you elect determine which policies are enacted. By both informing and mobilizing, WakeUP’s advocacy for sustainable planning around transportation, land use, affordable housing, and climate change find their “roots” within our grassroots nature.
One of the primary ways you can make a difference is to be well-informed and to vote for people and policies that help ensure sustainable growth development and equity for all.

Community calendars
Our goal is to help all residents become informed about issues and decisions related to growth and development. Wake County as a whole is governed by a Board of Commissioners. Each of the 12 municipalities located in the county has its own local government, including a town or city council and a town or city manager.
Depending on where in Wake County you live and which issues concern you the most, you may be interested in attending planning, council, and/or commission meetings. At these meetings, leaders discuss policies and make decisions that affect the daily lives of Wake County citizens. Meeting agendas are typically publicized in advance so that you can prepare yourself (and others) to take action as needed to advocate for policies you support.
Please see the links below for detailed information about upcoming meetings of local government bodies throughout the county. You will note that meetings often occur on a set schedule (e.g., the second Tuesday of the month at 3 pm), which assists with planning ahead.
